Kadianine Sy-Savane
Chief Research Officer
Ms. Kadianine is a humanitarian and activist who got her first inspiration from the state of gender inequalities in the American system and the countries she is from in West Africa. During her college career at St. Mary’s College of Maryland (S.M.C.M.), as a senator of the institution’s student government association, her first act was advocating for the inclusion of feminine products for women and other femme people on the campus. In response to her letters to multiple feminine product companies, the school received thousands of dollars in feminine hygiene products to better serve their students and staff.
In 2020, at the peak of the Covid19 breakout, as the treasurer of the same group, she, alongside a colleague, facilitated meetings with the university’s board of trustees that secured adequate funds to support students who were forced to leave the school’s campus abruptly and were facing the threat of homelessness/displacement. In 2021, she joined the ‘Black Women Radicals (B.W.R.)’, an advocacy group that centers on the black woman’s experience in the United States. During her time with this organization, she participated in the ‘Defend Black Women’ march, protesting police brutality and domestic violence against black women.
During her time with the organization, she was part of events to feed unhoused people in the community, pay rents, shelter women who were victims of domestic violence, distribute back-to-school supplies, and provide other resources to those in need. In 2024, she joined the Mutual Aim team, where she hopes to continue her work for the people she represents, bringing her experiences and expertise.
