General Volunteer Information

Welcome!

Thank you for signing up to be a volunteer at Mutual Aim Inc. We are excited to have you with us and can not wait for this new journey with you. Now that you have completed your registration, you will be added to the right group chats once we have gone through your profile. Please give us about 4-5 business days to reach out to you! If you do not hear back from us during this time frame, please email us at team.ma@mutualaim.org. We appreciate your patience as we work to attend to you.

Here are a few things to remember:

Location: All our volunteer options are currently fully remote. If you sign up at this moment, there is no requirement for you to be in any physical location. Once we have a physical location to volunteer in person, it will only apply to those who are in-state and can commute. If it is ever the case that we need volunteers to travel down to our home state (Maryland), we will make such requests ahead of time and make the necessary accommodations.

Meeting time(s): Our team meetings are every Saturday at 5:00 pm EST on Telegram. During these meetings, we give updates on the organization’s operations, plan events, create new strategies for the organization, and do whatever else is needed. In the event that a meeting is canceled, we will make that announcement in the group chat.

What you need: (1.) To make sure that you are able to stay in touch with the organization and communicate effectively, please download the Telegram app and create a username. Make sure that your notification for the app is on so that you are notified when important things are said in the group chat. (2.) To better engage with the organization’s work in the online space, you may want to create accounts on TikTok and Instagram, as we use those platforms to reach our audiences.

Follow us on our social media platforms: If you are already on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, give us a follow so that you can engage with the content that the organization puts out. If you are a content creator and will be making content on behalf of Mutual Aim, our Media Relations Director (M.R.D.) will also follow your accounts so that we can engage your posts for the organization.

Resources for the organization: Now that you have completed the form, we will assess your form and send you a response. Once this is done, if you are to be a volunteer of the organization, we will add you to the appropriate group chats where you will have access to the document you need to get better acquainted with the organization and its operations. This information will help you effectively represent and introduce the organization if the occasion ever calls for it.
