Ayomide Ogunsakin
Board Vice President
Ms. Ayomide is a Nigerian black women’s and student’s rights activist, journalist, law graduate, and DeFi policy advocate. She has spent much of her time advocating for the rights of black women and African students. Her passion for women’s rights is directly related to the dangers of domestic violence and period poverty. Her experience in the humanitarian field has exposed her to the harsh realities women face in Nigeria when they do not have access to safe feminine hygiene products during their periods. She is aware of the illnesses that these circumstances bring, and actively calls for change.
As a law graduate and advocate, she criticizes Nigerian laws that poorly define gender-based crimes and inadequately address such matters. As a member of a society that fails to protect some of its most vulnerable, she puts herself in a position to be a voice for the voiceless. In her time as a student activist, she actively participated in protests that called out the institution’s negligence concerning its students and unfavorable policies. These protests led to many significant changes within the school, making resources more accessible to students and staff.
As a DeFi policy advocate, she believes in the existence of policies in the DeFi industry that protect investors through content community and consultancy. Through her work, she hopes to help foster social change by encouraging communities to create new strategies that enforce human rights. She has since joined the Mutual Aim team to make this a reality through the organization.
